What information this site and its booking system collect, why, and how you can control it.

Werner English Studio (wernerkuhn.org) is a sole-proprietor English tutoring practice run by Werner Kühn, based in Taichung, Taiwan. This page explains what information is collected through this website and its booking system, why it's collected, and what your options are.
When you book a free trial or a regular session through the booking page, the form collects your name, email address, and any notes you choose to add (for example, an exam date or a topic you'd like to focus on). This information is used to confirm the session, contact you about it, create a corresponding lesson record so I can prepare for and track your progress, and send you a cancellation link if you need to change your plans.
If you're already a student, this information may be linked to your existing student record in my private lesson-tracking system.
To avoid double-booking, the booking system checks my own Google Calendar for existing commitments before showing you available times, and creates a calendar event on my calendar when you book a session. This uses the Google Calendar API under a limited, specific scope, and only accesses my own calendar — as the business owner — not yours. You are never asked to sign in with Google or grant any permission to your own calendar or account when you use this site.
The information read from my calendar (existing event times, to determine what's free or busy) and written to it (a new event when you book, removed if you cancel) is used solely to run the scheduling system described here. It is not used for advertising, not shared with third parties, and not used for any purpose beyond providing and improving this booking feature. This use, access, and transfer of Google user data adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Booking confirmations, cancellation links, and occasional scheduling or billing reminders are sent by email to the address you provide. If you choose to add me as a friend on LINE, our conversation is handled through LINE's own service under LINE's privacy terms, not this website's.
This site does not use advertising trackers, does not sell or rent your information to anyone, and does not run analytics that build an advertising profile of visitors. Standard, anonymous web server logs (the kind any hosting provider keeps) may record technical details like IP address and browser type for security and troubleshooting purposes only.
Booking and lesson information is kept for as long as needed to provide tutoring services and maintain accurate records — typically for the duration of our lessons together, plus a reasonable period afterward for continuity if you return as a student. You can ask for your information to be corrected or deleted at any time by contacting me directly (see below).
Some students are minors. Where a student is under 18, the booking and any related communication should be made by a parent or guardian on the student's behalf, and this policy applies equally to information provided in that context.
